Hematologic Malignancy
This is a 34-bed unit with primarily private patient rooms that cares for patients with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Patients with non-malignant blood dyscrasias such as aplastic anemia and hemophilia are also admitted to this unit. The nursing unit staff, consisting of registered nurses, patient care associates, clinical nurse specialist and unit clerical associates work in collaboration with the hematology attending and resident physicians, physician assistants and certified nurse practitioners. Many of the patients receive high dose chemotherapy and are under consideration for possible transplantation while other patients are participating in research clinical trials. This is a very stimulating environment to work if you are interested in being are part of and contributing to the clinical research of the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
