About The James
As the Midwest’s only freestanding cancer hospital and research center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center -- Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) is committed to the prevention and treatment of cancer. The James is the patient-care component of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), one of 39 CCCs in the U.S. as designated by the National Cancer Institute. U.S. News and World Report’s “Guide to America’s Best Hospitals” consistently rates The James as one of the best hospitals in the country for the treatment of cancer.
The James treats approximately 7,500 inpatients annually and manages nearly 157,000 outpatient visits from Ohio and around the world. The 268,000 sq. ft. facility is licensed for 160 patient beds, has 26 research laboratories and offers advanced treatment and diagnostic services at several off-campus sites including Dublin and Pickerington. The OSU CCC-James is committed to an aggressive research program in basic sciences, experimental therapeutics and human cancer genetics. At any given time, patients have access to more than 260 clinical trials, including cutting-edge treatments in many phase I and phase II studies.

Continuing Education Credit
The programs outlined in this catalog have been awarded contact hours for nursing continuing education credit through The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, Office of Nursing Staff Development. The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OH#160/2-01-10 is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
- Participants must attend 80% of the program and complete an evaluation form to receive CE credit.
- No partial CE credit will be awarded.

Registration Information
These programs are open to registered nurses (and others) who are interested or involved in the care of patients, specifically, oncology patients. Each program lists a target audience. A registration deadline date is indicated as well as the registration fee. The registration covers the course materials and continuing education credit. Parking and lunch are not included. There is no fee for OSUMC employees.
In all cases, enrollment is limited. Interested participants are encouraged to register early. Certain courses fill up several weeks in advance. Deadline for registration is two weeks prior to the course. If space permits, this deadline may be waived. Registration is not confirmed until registration fees are received.

All courses (except PICC) will be held at our new facility at 660 Ackerman Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43202, Room 314 unless otherwise noted. PICC courses will be held in The James, 300 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43210, Room 518A unless otherwise noted. Directions to the OSU campus and The James Cancer Hospital can be found in this catalog. A more detailed map can be faxed on request by calling Nursing Staff Development @ (614) 293-3256.
Confirmation cards or letters will be sent approximately 1 week prior to the course, provided the registration was received in time. If you have not received your confirmation information prior to the program, please call Nursing Staff Development at (614) 293-3256 three working days prior to the program.

Directions to Ohio State University and The Ackerman Road Facility

660 Ackerman is directly east of the Ackerman Road exit off State Route 315. Nursing Staff Development and Patient Education training rooms are on the first floor directly to the right of the front desk and through the glass hallway.
Parking Directions
Parking is available with a CX or better OSU Parking Permit in the 660 Ackerman lot or directly across the street in the campus CX lot. There is also a shuttle service from OSU Medical Center leaving every 15 minutes from in front of The Ross Heart Hospital.
Visitors will be given a daily parking pass which will allow you to park in the Ackerman Road parking lot or directly across the street in the campus CX lot.

Visitors coming to the Medical Center may call 293-2OSU or 1-800-293-4123 for recorded direction and other patient/visitor information. They may also make selections to have a map mailed or faxed to them. We recommend Valet Parking, which is available in front of the James or in front of University Hospitals for a rate of $5.00 (This includes all day parking). Or you can pay to park in the 12th Ave. garage, which provides parking closest to The James, Rhodes and Doan Halls. A walkway connects the third floor of the garage to the first floor of the hospitals.
From the North (Sandusky, Delaware and Cleveland):
Take any major highway to I-270. Take I-270 to State route 315 south.
Take State Route 315 south to the King/Kinnear Exit
Turn left onto Kinnear Rd (Kinnear Road turns into Olentangy River Road).
Take Olentangy River Road to King Avenue (third traffic light).
Turn left onto King Avenue. Take King Avenue to Cannon Drive
Turn left onto Cannon Drive
From the South (Chillicothe, Portsmouth and Cincinnati):
Take any major highway to I-71 north
Take I-71 north to State Route 315 north
Take State Route 315 north to the Medical Center Drive and King Avenue Exit.
From the East (Newark, Zanesville and Pittsburgh):
Take any major highway to I-70 west. Take I-70 west to State Route 315 north
Take State Route 315 north to the Medical Center Drive and King Avenue Exit.
From the West (Springfield, Dayton and Indianapolis):
Take any major highway to I-70 east. Take I70 east to State Route 315 north.
Take State Route 315 north to the Medical Center Drive and King Avenue Exit.
Parking Directions
Hospitals Garage From State Route 315 south, take Cannon Drive to Medical Center Drive. Turn right onto medical Center Drive.
From State Route 315 north, continue to go strait at the traffic light onto medical Center Drive.
Once on Medical Center Drive, proceed to Westpark Street. Turn left onto Westpark Street. The Hospital Parking Garage is located on your left and is connected to the Medical Center with a walkway bridge on the 2nd floor.
12th Avenue Garage From State Route 315 south take Cannon Drive.
From SR 315 north, turn left onto Cannon Drive.
Once on Cannon Drive, turn right onto 12th Avenue. The 12th Avenue Parking Garage is located on the left side of the 12th Avenue and is connected to the Medical Center with a walkway bridge over 12th Avenue.
