The Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) program at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute has earned international recognition for advancements in treating cancer. For example, our program developed and demonstrated the effectiveness of a radiation-free preparative regimen for blood and marrow transplantation that is used throughout the world for treating diseases, such as chronic myelogenous leukemia. Our program was also one of the first to recognize the benefit of the effectiveness of the donors’ immune system in fighting a patient’s leukemia.
Our program is accredited by all the major accrediting agencies. We are also a preferred site for most of the major third party health insurance carriers.
A comprehensive BMT program, we offer transplants for a wide variety of diseases using either the patient’s own stem cells or those donated by a family member or an unrelated volunteer. Our BMT physicians are all full-time faculty members within Ohio State University College of Medicine and each has significant subspecialty experience in individual malignancies, such as lymphoma, multiple myeloma and leukemia. As part of Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program offers the latest treatment options and participates in several National Cancer Institute and OSU-sponsored clinical trials. Our program has performed more than 2,000 stem cell transplants, placing us among the most experienced BMT programs within the United States.
