James Reunion Sees Record Turnout
More than 8,000 people, including some 1,750 cancer survivors and their families, enjoyed an evening of fun and camaraderie at the annual James Reunion held in observance of Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
From 6-9 p.m., reunion guests had full “after-hours” access to the zoo, where they were able to meet-and-greet the animals and their keepers, enjoy food and live musical entertainment at the zoo’s Water’s Edge Events Park, view an exhibition of classic cars, and visit a Survivorship Expo featuring health and wellness advice and materials from experts at Ohio State’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
The reunion was once again sponsored by Citigroup Smith Barney. Guests also heard addresses from David Schuller, MD, executive director of The James, and Michael Caligiuri, MD, director of Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. Both express gratitude to the many staff and volunteers who worked hard to make this event another big success.
