Horses for Hope & Healing

Provided yearly, the use of equestrian therapy promotes teenagers' personal explorations of feelings and behaviors, teaching them ways to cope with crisis. Therapeutic riding and associated equine activities are facilitated by a licensed/credentialed art therapist working in conjunction with a certified riding instructor.

Program goals and objectives are:

  • To help teens develop trust, making it easier to express their grieving

  • Learn communication and intimacy skills

  • Build and sustain respectful peer relationships

  • Develop self-esteem and experience a decrease in anxiety

  • Develop problem-solving skills and increase ability to cope
