This is a Sunday afternoon hands-on tour of The James to explain cancer and its prevention and treatment. Pictures are taken at each stop, and families may accompany children on the tour. A snack is provided.
The tour includes:
- Going to an operating room, dressing like a surgeon, learning about tumors, and “doing surgery” on an anatomically correct dummy
- Seeing cancer cells under a microscope as well as bugs, hair and dollar bills
- Visiting a chemotherapy unit, getting “hooked up” to an IV line, trying on wigs and learning about chemotherapy and the immune system
