Ronney Abaza, MD, Director of Robotic Urologic Surgery
As the new director of Robotic Urologic Surgery, Dr. Abaza leads an experienced team dedicated to patients undergoing robotic surgery for the treatment of urologic conditions, such as prostate, kidney and bladder cancers.
Before joining Ohio State, Dr. Abaza founded the Robotic and Minimally-Invasive Surgery Institute of Northwest Ohio, where he was the first in the region to perform kidney, ureteral, adrenal and bladder cancer surgeries.
Dr. Abaza received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Toledo, where he joined the faculty upon graduation. He was also director of the Laparoscopy, Simulation & Robotics Training Center at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, where he trained medical students, residents and fellow surgeons in laparoscopy and robotics.
He has presented at national and international meetings and has won awards from local, state and regional urologic societies for his research.
